Club Rules & Constitution


    1.        NAME   
    The club shall be called the Sundridge and Brasted Social Club.
    2.        OBJECTS
    The objects of the Club shall be to afford to its members the means of social enjoyment, mutual helpfulness, mental and moral improvement and rational recreation.
    3.        MANAGEMENT
    a)        The Club shall be managed by a General Committee consisting of a Secretary, Treasurer, and nine other  Members, all of whom shall be elected by ballot at the Annual General Meeting to serve for one year, Nominations having been made not less than seven days before the Meeting, and shall be responsible for the proper conduct of the Club.
    b)       At the first meeting of the General Committee of the Club its members shall elect a Chairman and a Vice Chairman from among themselves.
    4.        FUNDS  All monies received shall be periodically banked in the name of the Club.
    5.        TIMES OF OPENING
    a)        The Club may be open for the sale of intoxicating liquor during the hours decided by the Committee as and when the need arises and in compliance with The Licensing Act.
    b)       The actual opening hours to be displayed in the Club.
    c)        The Club shall remain open for an extra half an hour in the evenings after the end of the Licensing hours.
    6.        MEMBERSHIP
    a)        No person under the age of 16 years shall be elected to membership of the Club.
    b)       Membership of the Club shall be open to residents of Sundridge and Brasted and the surrounding areas and shall be by election either by the Club in General Meeting or by the General Committee.
    c)        The name and address of any person proposed for election shall, for not less than two days before the Election, be prominently displayed in the Club Premises in a part frequented by the members and that person shall be proposed and seconded for election by members of the Club.
    d)       New members will be charged a joining fee which will be determined at the Annual General Meeting. Fourteen days notice shall be given of such Meeting.
    e)        Members may be elected to life membership of the Club by the Club in General Meeting for exceptional services rendered to the Club.
    f)        The names of the members of the Club and those serving on the General Committee shall be displayed in The Club’s premises.
    g)        It shall be lawful for the General committee to expel any member for conduct within the Club inconsistent with the objects of the Club or for breach of any of the Rules for the time being in force for the regulation of the Club.  Seven days notice shall be given to any member whose conduct is called into question on the day, hour, and place at which the General Committee will take his case into consideration and such member shall be entitled to attend such Committee Meeting, and be and be heard in his defense
    7.        GUESTS AND CHILDREN
    a)        A member may introduce no more than two guests for any one day, but the same guests may not introduced on more than seven occasions in any one four week period.  The name(s) of the guest(s) must be entered in the Visitors Book and the appropriate fee paid.
    b)       The guest fee to be decided by the Committee and displayed accordingly

    c)   Children will be permitted in the lounge area until 9pm only, thereafter in the games room unless a function is taking place therein..

    8.        SUBSCRIPTIONS
    a)        Subscriptions shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting.  They shall become due on the 1st January each year and shall be paid not later than the last day of January of each year. All subscriptions shall be paid to the Steward who shall give a receipt and enter the amount paid on a membership card.
    b)       Members in arrears with their subscriptions after 31st January shall be deemed to have ceased their membership of the Club but may, subject to the discretion of the General Committee, be re-admitted to membership provided that not more than three months has elapsed from the date by which the subscription should have been paid, such applications to be in writing.
    c)        Joining fee to be determined at A.G.M.
    9.        ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING  
    The A.G.M. shall be held in March of each year.  The date and time of the Meeting shall be fixed by the General Committee and notice of the Meeting shall be posted on the notice board of the Club not less than 14 days before such meeting.  The A.G.M. shall receive reports from the Chairman, Treasurer and Auditor.  The meeting shall elect a President, Vice Presidents, Auditor and General Committee.  A certified copy of the Balance Sheet and Account shall be displayed on the notice board of the Club for not less than seven days before such meeting.  Only financial members will be eligible to stand for Club officers or vote at this meeting.
    10.     EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
    An E.G.M. may be called at any time by the General Committee of the Club or upon the request of 20 members of the Club or one-fifth of those entitled to vote thereat, whichever is less.  Fourteen days notice shall be given of such meeting.
    11.     INTOXICATING LIQUOR
    a)        Intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises may  be supplied only to persons over the age of 18 years who are
    (1)     Members of the Club or
    (2)  Guests of members of the club
    b)       Intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises may be sold to persons over the age of 18 years who, on the occasion of matches held at the Club’s premises, are members of the  teams against which the matches are being played or officials of such teams or guest of such members or officials.
    c)        Intoxicating liquor for consumption off the premises may be supplied only to members who are over the age of 18 years.

    12.     DISPLAY OF RULES
    A copy of the Rules shall at all times be displayed in the Club’s premises
    13.     NEW RULES
    New rules, and amendments to rules, shall be made only at a General Meeting of the Club.  Motions, resolutions, etc. to be submitted in writing, properly proposed and seconded, for inclusion in the Agenda, 7 days before that meeting.
    14.     SECRETARY
    The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings and act generally as the principal officer of the Club.
    15.     TREASURER
    The Treasurer shall be responsible for the control of all monies received and disbursed by the Club and shall maintain an account thereof in such manner as the General Committee may direct.  He shall prepare a report which shall be presented at each Annual General Meeting and shall prepare and present such financial information as the General Committee may require..
    16.     CHANGE OF OFFICERS
    A period of six weeks is desirable for continuity on handing over the main Officers roles.
